⚾️ Yamamoto's Iron Arm & Smith's Walk-Off Homer Seal Dodgers' Historic Repeat

The Los Angeles Dodgers secured their place as a modern dynasty by defeating the Toronto Blue Jays in an instant classic Game 7, overcoming 3-0 and 4-2 deficits to win in 11 thrilling innings. With the victory, the Dodgers become the first team in 25 years to repeat as World Series champions, joining the legendary 1998-2000 New York Yankees.

The Historic Game 7 Comeback

This win was defined by impossible, record-breaking resilience. Entering the ninth inning trailing on the road, the Dodgers were staring at history — teams in that situation were 2-33 all-time. The Dodgers became the first team ever to complete a Game 7 comeback on the road after trailing in the ninth.

The Unlikely Hero: The comeback started with the bat of Miguel Rojas, who smashed a solo shot in the top of the ninth to tie the game. He is the first player in MLB history to hit a game-tying home run in the ninth inning or later of a World Series Game 7. The Extra-Innings Clincher: The job was finished in the 11th inning when Will Smith hit the go-ahead home run. He became the first player ever in MLB history to hit a home run in extra innings of a World Series Game 7.

Yamamoto’s Legendary MVP Performance

The World Series MVP, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, delivered one of the greatest pitching performances in postseason history, cementing the win with his unbelievable durability.

Road Warrior: Yamamoto is the first pitcher ever in MLB history to win three games entirely on the road in a single World Series (Games 2, 6, and 7).
The Iron Arm: He joined an elite group as the first pitcher since Randy Johnson in 2001 to win three games in a World Series. Most incredibly, Yamamoto is the first pitcher since Johnson and Orel Hershiser in the last 70 years to pitch the day after throwing at least six innings, winning both Game 6 and Game 7 on the road.

Did You Know?

The road team dominance in winner-take-all games continued. The Dodgers' victory was the fifth successive World Series Game 7 won by the visiting team, extending a streak that dates back to the 2014 Giants. Furthermore, the 2025 Dodgers became only the ninth team in MLB history to win both Games 6 and 7 on the road

🏀 Morant Suspended, Redick Cusses, and the 50-Point Heroics

LeBron James was one of the many Los Angeles Lakers personnel who were actively watching the Los Angeles Dodgers battle out to win their 2nd consecutive World Series after a thrilling Game 7.

JJ Redick revealed he would deny requests to be projected on the big screen at Dodger Stadium when he was playing for the Clippers. The head coach also revealed he is looking at his team to bring out their heart of champions, referencing World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto's quote.

During their game against the Miami Heat, Redick tried to bring it out in them and was seen cussing his players as they left the floor after a defensive mistake. At least Bronny James had the highlight of the game, after he threw down an alley-oop from Austin Reaves.

Ja Morant did not play in the Memphis Grizzlies’ game against the Toronto Raptors as he was suspended. The team reprimanded him for his response, calling out the coaches after his lacklustre effort in their loss to the Lakers.

Shaquille O’Neal claimed he trusts Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors’ starting five more than any other unit in the league, especially when it comes to the playoffs. He believes their collective experience is enough to win a title.

The defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder is the lone remaining undefeated team after the Phoenix Suns exploited Victor Wembanyama’s horrible shooting night to stop their 5-0 winning streak.

🏈 Grier Out, Daniels Injured, and Cardi B's Touchdown Celly

The Miami Dolphins made a change, mutually parting ways with GM Chris Grier. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith was not amused and seemingly labeled it as a racially motivated move, believing the franchise did not fire Mike McDaniel.

Then, before Sunday’s games, Travis Hunter was placed on injured reserve. Thankfully, his place kicker Cam Little’s 13 points helped the Jaguars win against the Raiders. The latter also created NFL history with a 68-yard field goal.

Even Cardi B watched alongside Robert Kraft as the Patriots won by a single point against the Falcons. She re-enacted her boyfriend, Stefon Diggs’ touchdown celebration after the latter scored.

It seems this week's theme was one-score games, as JJ McCarthy impressed in a win over the Lions. Then the Carolina Panthers held their ground in a close battle with the Packers. Then the Broncos also won by field goal.

Aaron Rodgers had to thank his Steelers defense after they forced 6 turnovers from the league-leading Colts. Staying in the division, Ja’Marr Chase and the Bengals’ offense were livid after their defensive teammates allowed the Bears to score 47 points in the loss.

Even the stud Washington Commanders defense was not playing at its best as they allowed Sam Darnold to score 4 times in the 1st half. In the 2nd half, their day went from bad to worse after quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a gruesome elbow injury.

Unlike those home fans, the Bills Mafia were at their loudest best, helping Josh Allen and the team register an impressive win over the hot-handed Chiefs. A frustrated Travis Kelce was seen mocking the hostile fans at Highmark Stadium.
