In a week of big names and even bigger moments, the golf world delivered. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler continued his reign of dominance, staging a massive comeback in the final round of the BMW Championship to claim his fifth victory of the season. His play was so incredible that it left even two of the world's most recognizable athletes in awe.
Both Patrick Mahomes and LeBron James were left stunned by Scheffler's performance, taking to X to praise the golf star. It's a testament to Scheffler's legendary run when a championship QB and the NBA's all-time leading scorer are both dropping everything to watch you play.

Meanwhile, on the LIV Golf side, Jon Rahm won the individual championship for the second year in a row—without winning a single event all season. Rahm’s remarkable consistency saw him fire an 11-under 60 in the final round to clinch the title in a thrilling finish. He ended up losing the playoff to Sebastian Munoz, but his performance was more than enough to leapfrog the competition in the standings.
With the BMW Championship now in the books, the Ryder Cup teams are starting to take shape. Scottie Scheffler, Russell Henley, Harris English, and Bryson DeChambeau have all automatically qualified for Team USA.
For Europe, Rory McIlroy, Robert MacIntyre, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, and Tyrrell Hatton have locked in their spots. There’s still one automatic spot left to be decided, adding to the drama as the legendary tournament approaches.
🏀 MPJ's Tate Take, Stephen A.'s Sabotage Claim
Michael Porter Jr. continued to dominate NBA news chatter after claiming to use Andrew Tate’s misogynistic videos as a test to understand the nature of women. Many former athletes have been calling on the Brooklyn Nets star to keep a lid on his controversial podcast takes.
Austin Rivers drew flak from LeBron James’ fans when he claimed that the Lakers star does not have half the bag Kevin Durant has. Jeff Teague, who had recently exposed James’ steroid use, noted that the all-time leading scorer was different and always elevated his teammates.

Durant again blew social media into bits when he was seen smiling alongside former WNBA player and current OnlyFans star Liz Cambage. It might have been nothing, but fans have always wanted to get a glimpse of the Rockets star’s personal life.
The superstar joined his former teammate Draymond Green, James, and Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett to appreciate Hollywood great Denzel Washington for calling out ‘talking heads’ on sports networks.
It is unclear if the likes of Stephen A. Smith would listen to that, as he went on Gil’s Arena to reveal that LeBron James had tried to sabotage his career, both before and after the confrontation during a Lakers game.
Talking about careers, Steve Kerr has had a legendary one in coaching, but attributed it to the rise of Stephen Curry, as without him, he would have been just another coach in the NBA. Even Kyrie Irving clarified that he had no dislike for playing alongside LeBron James early in his career, pointing out that it was just time for him to move on.
🎮️ 2K's Ratings Rage, A Bad Joke & The Fever's Feat
NBA 2K has ranked Caitlin Clark the 4th best player in the game and Angel Reese, the 10th best. This caused some furor on social media as fans pointed out several players who they believe should have been higher than those two sophomores.
After a lot of social media backlash, Kelsey Plum came clean about her viral ‘diss’ towards Clark’s All-Star team. She admitted that it was a bad joke, and considering the seriousness of the CBA negotiations, she should not have said that.

She also clarified that teammates and friends come first, which is why the Fever guard was ranked 9th among guards, just like how she was ranked 16th , and Jackie Young was ranked 12th .
Sophie Cunningham continued to troll Clark with a goat joke, but there was no comeback from the sophomore. Clark was away from the team after her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery’s, grandmother passed away.
She was not courtside when the Fever took on the Connecticut Sun. Fans could not see her emotions when Cunningham went down with a knee injury early in the 1st quarter. The recently turned 29-year-old had to be helped off the court.
Without her, the Fever soldiered on and launched a stunning 21-point comeback win. The win saw their head coach, Clark, and some of the players get emotional after what has been a trying season.
🏈 Spike's Sanders Take, Parsons' Trade & Veteran Holdouts
Despite Shedeur Sanders’ front-page-worthy start to the NFL preseason, he is still ranked 4th on the Browns’ QB depth chart. But Oscar-winning director Spike Lee believes those performances have made NFL GMs look ‘stupid’.
Sanders’ teammate and QB rival Dillon Gabriel remarked that he was a competitor and not an entertainer like others. After he received backlash for allegedly labelling Sanders as such, he quickly clarified his stance.
Clarifications are yet to come out of the Dallas Cowboys camp as rumors of a trade for Micah Parsons ramped up. His brother was amused by the news that the Packers were in the running. At the same time, former champion Chris Canty called out Jerry Jones for making this about entertainment.

3 veterans are still without a contract extension as Terry McLaurin, Cameron Heyward, and Trey Hendrickson continue to stay away from practice. The latter is being shopped around the league as the Bengals look for potential trade partners.
The New York Giants may not need to trade for another QB for a while after Russell Wilson and rookie Jaxson Dart impressed in their preseason outing. Another QB who had a brilliant preseason game was Caleb Williams, leaving fans impressed after questions arose at training camp.
Travis Hunter missed the 2nd preseason game due to an upper-body injury. Instead of his work on the field, his marital life came back into focus after NBA legend Dennis Rodman threw shade at him for marrying just after crossing the age of 21.
