⚾️ Soto's All-Star Snub, Astros' Dodger Domination & Guardians' Downfall

The MLB All-Star Game roster brought a major surprise this week, particularly for New York Mets fans. Despite impressive numbers, Juan Soto was not named an All-Star. The $765 million slugger was a top-five vote-getter among outfielders. Yet, the final selection left him off the prestigious roster. This decision has sparked considerable debate across the league.

Across the diamond, the Houston Astros delivered a stunning blow to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Astros completed a rare three-game sweep at Dodger Stadium. Game 1 was a rout, with Houston dismantling the Dodgers in an 18-1 thrashing. They followed that up with 6-4 and 5-1 victories on Saturday and Sunday, showcasing their power.

While some teams are soaring, others are in a freefall. The Cleveland Guardians are experiencing a significant slide. They were swept by the Detroit Tigers on Sunday, marking their tenth consecutive loss. This extended losing streak has created a huge gap in the AL Central.

The Tigers now lead the division by a commanding 15.5 games. This is a stark contrast to last year, when the Guardians won the AL Central. The division race might be over much sooner than expected. Meanwhile, the Washington Nationals have also made headlines, announcing significant changes to their front office in an attempt to turn their season around.

🏁 Winners & Losers: F1 British GP at Silverstone

🏆 Winners

Lando Norris
Dream achieved at Silverstone. Despite early struggles, Norris kept his head in mixed conditions to claim back-to-back wins and close the championship gap to just eight points.

Nico Hülkenberg
After 239 starts, the Hulk finally stood on an F1 podium at age 37. A strategy masterclass in the wet saw him snatch P3 — Sauber’s first podium since 2012.

Pierre Gasly
Alpine’s lone bright spot this season. A calm, clever drive in tough conditions earned Gasly P6, the team’s best result of 2025.

Lance Stroll
Silverstone’s rain king reminded everyone of his wet-weather skills, gambling early on slicks and fighting for a podium before fading late.

❌ Losers

Oscar Piastri
Cruel day. A 10-second penalty cost him a near-certain victory after a flawless drive. He leads the title race but left Silverstone gutted.

Red Bull
Complete disaster. Verstappen struggled with setup, spun mid-race, and limped to P5. Tsunoda finished dead last, capping off a weekend to forget.

F1’s Rookie Class
Rough reality check. Only Ollie Bearman saw the checkered flag (P14). Bortoleto crashed, Lawson was squeezed out, and Antonelli’s strategy unraveled.

Charles Leclerc
Weekend nightmare. Qualifying error, poor tire calls, and several off-track moments. The Ferrari star owned up, but it was ugly.

🏀 Nuggets' Valanciunas Vexation, Bronny's Big Bounce & Drake's Diss

The Denver Nuggets managed to get some important pieces in to their team. One of the most important additions was Jonas Valanciunas, who could help Nikola Jokic ease off the minutes he plays in the playoffs.

However, the Nuggets efforts could end up backfiring after the Lithuanian was rumored to be entertaining a move back to Europe. Thankfully, for Lakers fans, their team would not lose Jaxson Hayes to another roster after signing him for another year.

Their most important superstar, LeBron James is in the thick of trade rumors, but he shut down one involving the Cleveland Cavaliers after he was pictured at their practice facilities. His son, Bronny James, also remained coy on his father’s future.

The sophomore started his 2nd Summer League appearance with a bang, stealing the ball and throwing down a tomahawk dunk. His father was thrilled that his son was beginning to show confidence.

James also made the headlines after rapper Drake’s new track, What Did I Miss? featured an apparent diss towards his former close friend. Things got spicier when Kevin Durant also promoted that song.

Durant’s move to the Houston Rockets was finalized in a trade involving an NBA-record 7 teams. He paid a tribute to his time in Phoenix, and also received one from former teammate Devin Booker. Their other Big 3 partner, Bradley Beal, is also likely on his way out, with a potential buyout in the works.

🏈 McAfee's Generosity, Puka's Paternity & Turpin's Troubles

Former NFL punter Pat McAfee was in the news for the right reasons this time, after it was learned that he covered the costs of his crew after ESPN’s budget cuts threatened to render his crew jobless.

Rams WR Puka Nacua will have to sort out his finances after his longtime girlfriend moved the court to establish the paternity of her child. She is also seeking custody and wants her star boyfriend to handle their expenses.

Controversy followed Cowboys star KaVontae Turpin, who was hit with gun and marijuana charges after his arrest. At a time when the franchise is looking towards its past success to turn it into a competitor, such news dampens their motives.

It is unclear what the motives of Cardi B are after the rapper wiped her Instagram of any references to boyfriend Stefon Diggs. It could be just a move to help improve the Patriots star’s public image after the yacht party incident. However, fans are speculating that the rapper and the former All-Pro might be done.

Shedeur Sanders is also being rumored to be at the crossroads of his yet-to-start NFL career. Some believe he has not done enough to earn a roster spot and could be forced to look for employment elsewhere.

The CFL could be one option after the Toronto Argonauts reportedly won negotiation rights to the Colorado Buffaloes star. However, the move looks unlikely as he is focused on becoming the 2nd family member to play in the NFL.
