🏁 Winners & Losers: 2025 F1 Belgian Grand Prix
🏆 Winners
Oscar Piastri (McLaren) Oscar Piastri proved exactly why he's leading the championship at the Belgian Grand Prix. He executed a brilliant first-lap overtake on his teammate Lando Norris, a move that set the tone for his dominant performance. Piastri masterfully handled the tricky wet conditions and never looked back, securing his sixth win of the 2025 season. This victory further extends his lead in the drivers' championship, solidifying his status as the man to beat.
Lando Norris (McLaren) Despite a tricky start involving a battery issue, Lando Norris showcased his resilience and skill. He delivered a solid second-place finish, ensuring a vital 1-2 for McLaren. This crucial result keeps his own championship aspirations very much alive. Norris's ability to recover and maintain pace under pressure was a testament to his growing maturity as a top-tier driver.
Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) Charles Leclerc put in a strong, consistent drive to secure third place on the podium. He managed to keep Max Verstappen firmly behind him, a significant achievement given the intense championship battle. Leclerc's performance highlights Ferrari's continued progress and their determination to challenge at the front, proving they are a force to be reckoned with this season.
Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) Lewis Hamilton delivered one of the drives of the day, charging impressively from the pit lane (starting 18th on the grid) all the way up to seventh. His clever tire strategy played a crucial role in his ascent through the field. It was a classic Hamilton performance, demonstrating his ability to extract maximum performance and navigate challenging race conditions even when starting from a disadvantage.
McLaren Team The McLaren team continues its sensational run, achieving their third straight 1-2 finish at Spa. This incredible performance has propelled them to a massive lead in the constructors’ championship. Their consistent development, strategic prowess, and the impeccable driving of both Piastri and Norris have made them the team to beat in 2025, setting a high bar for the competition.

❌ Losers
Max Verstappen (Red Bull) It was a challenging weekend for Max Verstappen, who finished a distant fourth. He simply couldn't match the blistering pace set by either McLaren or Ferrari throughout the race. This result sees his deficit in the drivers' championship swell to a significant 81 points, making his path to a record-breaking title even steeper. Red Bull will need to regroup quickly to recapture their dominant form.
George Russell (Mercedes) George Russell had a disappointing outing, only managing a fifth-place finish. In tricky and unpredictable conditions that often create opportunities, Russell missed a chance to capitalize and deliver a stronger result for Mercedes. It was a weekend where the team will feel they could have achieved more given the circumstances.
Red Bull Team The Red Bull team's struggles continued at Spa. They faced persistent strategy and pace issues throughout the Grand Prix, a worrying trend that seems to have emerged since recent leadership changes. Their inability to challenge McLaren and Ferrari at the front underscores a need for urgent re-evaluation to get their championship defense back on track.
🏀 Wemby's Malone Troll, Morris Sr. Arrest & Jokic's Tears of Joy
Victor Wembanyama stole headlines when he trolled the NBA for celebrating the birthday of Hall of Famer Karl Malone. It seems it was a stand that he did not condone what the Hall of Famer had done in his past.
LeBron James is busy spending time in France with his wife, Savannah James, as trade rumors seem to have cooled off for now. There are still some dominos that could fall, and he will look into it, possibly after returning home. James was also spotted with Nuggets’ superstar’s agents.
Nikola Jokic also drew the cheers of fans when he displayed his true character. He was captured on film bawling his eyes out after his horse won a race in Serbia. He never had the same feelings when he won the NBA championship.

His teammate, Markieff Morris’ twin brother, Marcus Morris Sr., was arrested for fraud. He had issued a check but did not maintain sufficient balance for it to be encashed. Morris Sr. is facing time in prison.
Two California teams are rumored to be working towards a player swap where the Sacramento Kings will receive Jonathan Kuminga, whereas DeMar DeRozan will join the Golden State Warriors.
Jaylen Brown has been making news after calling out Israel and its President, Benjamin Netanyahu, for the Palestine Genocide. The Celtics star is known to speak his mind, and this time, fans were in support.
🤕 Clark's Lingering Rest, Reese's Injury & BIG3's Snub
Caitlin Clark has no timetable to return after evaluations by doctors did not reveal any major causes of concern. Knowing this will need rest, the Indiana Fever are taking it slow amid calls for them to shut her down for the season.
They have won their last 2 games, and are looking more comfortable day by day without Clark in the lineup. They won against a Chicago Sky team that did not feature Angel Reese. The star forward has been struggling with a back injury.
Reese’s fans, however, can breathe a sigh of relief after StudBudz cancelled their proposed live stream with Dave Portnoy. Apparently, Courtney Williams’ father assessed the backlash from fans and made the decision.
Reese is continuing to understand more about the CBA and has vowed that she will do whatever it takes to get the women of the WNBA the revenue share that they deserve. CBA talks have been dominating women’s sports discussions of late.
However, it might have been disappointing to learn that Ice Cube’s BIG 3 league did not think her to be impactful enough to deserve a $5 million contract offer similar to what they offered Caitlin Clark before she entered the WNBA.
🏈 Cowboys' Contract Chaos, Rodgers' Reality Check & Williams' Woes
It seems every offseason, the Dallas Cowboys are the center of football-related drama. Jerry Jones was greeted with chants from fans asking him to pay Micah Parsons. But he ridiculed those chants, claiming they were faint voices compared to the loud chants for CeeDee Lamb last season.
On the other hand, his team is starting to believe that they are ready to contend for a Super Bowl this season. Other teams also want the same, and are using the team practices to get an idea of how much work they need.
Aaron Rodgers threw an interception in practice, but his teammates believe the superstar QB will lead them to a Super Bowl. Franchise legend Terry Bradshaw is not as enamored as those players and believes Rodgers is better off in California, running his mouth on things that do not matter.
Analysts expressed concern after Caleb Williams struggled in training camp. Throwing one interception to his own teammate is fine. Throwing two is concerning. This is all after he claimed he has set himself a 4000-yard goal for next season.
The situation at the Miami Dolphins is not something to be excited about, as there seems to be tension between Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill. The team needs those two to be on the same page to be successful.
Travis Hunter has been taking more reps at cornerback than receiver, hinting that it is possible that the 2nd overall pick will get the chance to play both ways and prove to his critics that he can do it.
