🏎️ Biggest Winners & Losers From Italian GP

Winners

Max Verstappen The Dutchman delivered a masterclass in domination. Starting from pole, he put on a clinic, finishing nearly 20 seconds clear of the field. It was his third win of the season and a historic one at that, as he set the record for the fastest race in F1 history on his way to an Italian double.

Lando Norris Despite a slow pit stop that briefly dropped him behind his teammate, Norris salvaged a crucial P2 finish. The team order that saw Oscar Piastri yield the position was controversial, but it ensured Norris’s strong performance wasn’t wasted, keeping him well in the championship hunt.

Alex Albon & Gabriel Bortoleto These two drivers proved that the midfield fight is far from over. Albon once again over-delivered for Williams, securing a valuable seventh-place finish and solidifying his "best of the rest" status. Meanwhile, Sauber rookie Bortoleto impressed by finishing in the points and outshining his more experienced teammate, Nico Hülkenberg.

Losers

McLaren The team secured a double podium, but their victory feels hollow. Their controversial decision to order Oscar Piastri to move aside for Lando Norris drew heavy criticism, undermining the integrity of the on-track competition and raising questions about their management of the championship battle.

Ferrari In front of their passionate home fans, the Scuderia fell short of expectations. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton could only manage fourth and sixth, respectively, a disappointing result that saw them unable to challenge for a podium in the land of the Tifosi.

Oliver Bearman The Haas driver had a day to forget. He was penalized for a collision with Carlos Sainz and is now dangerously close to an automatic one-race ban. With a handful of penalty points remaining, he's walking a tightrope for the rest of the season.

Nico Hülkenberg A disappointing outing ended before it even began for the veteran. A hydraulic issue on his Sauber prevented him from starting the race, leaving his grid slot vacant and his weekend over before the lights went out.

🏈 The Return of the King, A QB's Tussle & A Rookie's Vindication

The first Sunday of the 2025 NFL season started with a surprising blowout win for the Daniel Jones-led Colts against the Dolphins. The embarrassing loss saw Tyreek Hill have a meltdown again on the sidelines.

Jones’ former team, the Giants, had a game to forget after his replacement, Russell Wilson, struggled mightily against the Commanders. Wilson’s former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, had Aaron Rodgers as QB, and he was booed when he jogged onto MetLife Stadium.

He then proceeded to throw 4 touchdowns to help them beat his former team. After the game, he first taunted Gang Green, then proceeded to call out the Jets organization for painting him as the villain.

Packers fans were ecstatic after they saw Micah Parsons chase down Jared Goff for his only sack in his debut. He later talked about how he was glad that his ‘toxic’ offseason was over, and he was with a team that wanted him.

The final game of the night was when Lamar Jackson and the Ravens took on the Bills. It was turning out to be Derrick Henry’s night when he steamrolled through Bills defenders on every other play. The Ravens felt like they would easily win this game.

During a celebration, a Bills fan tried to hit Jackson on his head, but the QB retaliated and pushed the fan back. This could become a problem for him, as players are not supposed to physically engage with fans.

That would then be the least of his worries after the Bills, down 15 points with 4 minutes to go, rallied back behind his MVP rival, Josh Allen. The Bills' QB ran in two TDs and threw one to help his team win the game by a point.

🤑 Scandal Investigation Heats Up, A Hall of Fame First & A Family Tragedy

The Los Angeles Clippers-Kawhi Leonard scandal took a new turn when the Boston Sports Journal revealed that the bankrupt firm, Aspiration, committed $48 million towards the star forward as part of his endorsement deal.

The NBA has hired the same law firm, Wachtell, Lipton, Rose and Katz, which had investigated former Clippers owner Donald Sterling and former Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver. The outcome could rock the league.

The NBA inducted its Class of 2025 finalists into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony, Sue Bird, Maya Moore, and others wore the orange jacket as they became part of basketball's legacy.

Along with them, the 2008 Redeem Team was also inducted into the Hall of Fame. This makes LeBron James and Chris Paul the only active players to ever wear the orange jacket. The Lakers' superstar gave an ode to the late Kobe Bryant for helping the team come together and win gold.

At EuroBasket, the word ‘upset’ was the term most used over the weekend when tournament heavyweights, Serbia, lost to Finland in the Round of 16. France followed suit when minnows Georgia proved to be too much for them.

The star of the night was Luka Doncic, whose monumental 42-point double-double helped lead Slovenia to a well-deserved victory over Italy. Giannis Antetokounmpo also had a stellar performance in Greece’s win over Israel.

Minnesota Timberwolves star Naz Reid received some heartbreaking news when it was reported that his sister, Toraya Reid, was tragically shot and killed last night in New Jersey. Her boyfriend has been arrested, and he confessed to his crime.

🏀 Reese's Suspension, The Fever's Fight & Hall of Fame Queens

Angel Reese’s situation turned from bad to worse when the Chicago Sky announced that they were going to suspend their leading superstar for the first half of their clash against the Las Vegas Aces.

Then it was announced that the 23-year-old reported to the team before tip-off that her back injury had flared up, which saw her miss the entire game in the process. She wore a back brace during warmups and then sat on the sidelines as her team lost embarrassingly to the Aces.

Her head coach tried to deflect questions about her future, but there are growing rumors that the franchise and its star player are at odds, which could lead to a potential exit once the WNBA offseason starts.

The Indiana Fever clinched a playoff berth for the second straight season in a row without Caitlin Clark and four other players due to injury. The team currently has 16 players on their roster, and hopes to at least put up a fight in the first round.

WNBA legends Sue Bird, Maya Moore, and Sylvia Fowles were inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame as members of the Class of 2025. The trio was in the midst of some of the greats of the game, as well as the NBA, when they wore their orange jackets for the first time.
