🏀 Survival, Redemption, and Rising Stars: Jokic Endures, Haliburton Arrives, Curry Delivers

Nikola Jokic was asked to mirror Michael Jordan’s approach in Game 7 against the Los Angeles Clippers. He hardly managed to do that and wound up with just 16 points and 10 rebounds. Those numbers are much lower than what he usually ends up with, but they were enough for this game.

His teammates bailed him out again, as all of his fellow starters finished with double-digit points along with Russell Westbrook. The Nuggets will now face the league-leading Oklahoma City Thunder, where everyone hopes the Serbian will return to his best.

The Indiana Pacers started their second-round matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers in style. A total team performance saw them win over the East-leading Cavs in front of their home crowd. Tyrese Haliburton again proved his peers that he was not overrated and could play at the highest level, even if his father has been banned from games.

Stephen Curry’s family in contrast, travelled to Houston to support the Golden State Warriors superstar. He struggled initially, but then closed the game out with a stellar fourth quarter. Now his son, Canon, will be happy his father kept his promise.

It was a total team effort that saw them win against the hot-handed Houston Rockets. Now they will rest for two days and travel to take on Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Curry hopes, he avoids Edwards’ run of defeating the NBA’s Avengers.

Reese Dominates LSU Return, Clark Mania Hits Fever Pitch in Iowa

The 2025 WNBA preseason opened with Angel Reese and her Chicago Sky taking on the Brazilian National Team at the home court of her alma mater, the LSU Tigers. The game was one-sided as the Brazilians did not have an answer for the swift-moving Sky.

Reese wound up posting the best numbers of the game with a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double. What caught the attention of fans was how poised and patient she looked. Her shots looked cleaner, and she showed off some plays she has mastered over the offseason, giving hope that she could have a breakout year.

Her rival, Caitlin Clark, did not play in the Indiana Fever’s first preseason game against the Washington Mystics. Instead, it was the new veteran additions who took over and dominated the overtime win.

Most notably, those veterans made it clear they were not backing down from a fight, something the Fever lacked last season. However, they did not have to do that tonight against the Brazilians. The two teams were playing in Iowa, and the Iowa Hawkeyes arena was packed.

Those 15,000 fans were loud, especially when Caitlin Clark broke out her signature logo three. The Fever ended up blowing the Brazilians out by a margin of 64 points. But that did not stop the South Americans from lining up to ask for autographs and photos.

They even asked her for permission to record TikTok’s at the spot where her jersey number is etched into the floor. Even their coach had nothing but praise for the way she has single-handedly changed women’s basketball.

🥊 FS QUICK HITS

🏁 Winners and Losers from F1’s 2025 Miami Grand Prix

🔼 Winners

Oscar Piastri – Calm, clinical, and capitalizing on Verstappen’s early mistake, Piastri delivered a masterclass in race control. That’s three straight podiums, and right now, he’s clearly outshining Norris.

George Russell – From a tough qualifying to a smartly earned podium. Russell nailed the strategy and timed his VSC stop perfectly. That’s four podiums in six races—consistency is paying off.

Williams (Alex Albon) – P5 and ahead of a Red Bull, a Ferrari, and a Mercedes. With performances like this, Williams might be better off halting car development and banking on points.

🔽 Losers

Lando Norris – Got too feisty battling Verstappen early, lost position and momentum. Piastri took the patient route—and got the reward. Norris left wondering what could’ve been.

Max Verstappen – High aggression, low payoff. His defense backfired as both McLarens and Russell slipped through. Another weekend of frustration for the reigning champ.

Ferrari – Beaten by a Williams. Team orders were messy, the pace was nowhere, and the standings are slipping fast. Maranello needs answers—urgently.

Aston Martin – Four points, but still a lap down. Alonso spun and still beat Stroll. The AMR25 is looking more like a lost cause with each passing weekend.

Jack Doohan & Liam Lawson – A Turn 1 crash took both out early. Neither made it to Lap 10, and neither made a strong case for future seats

🏒 Rantanen’s Revenge, Jets’ Miracle: NHL Delivers Two Instant Classics

Mikko Rantanen spent nine years with the Avalanche—until Colorado traded him earlier this year. After a short stint with Carolina, he landed in Dallas and signed a massive 8-year, $96 million deal. In Game 7, he made sure his old team remembered him.

Down 2-1 in the third, Rantanen exploded—scoring a hat trick and assisting on the fourth goal to flip the game. He became the first player in NHL history to record four points in a period in back-to-back games. From franchise cornerstone to playoff villain—Colorado won’t forget this one.

Meanwhile, in Winnipeg, chaos struck. The St. Louis Blues were up 3-1 with under two minutes left. But the Jets pulled off the impossible—scoring twice in 1:54, with the equalizer coming with just 1.6 seconds on the clock.

Double overtime followed, and it was Jets captain Adam Lowry who sealed the deal. One of the wildest comebacks of the year, and a brutal exit for the Blues.
