🏀 Barkley’s LeBron Prediction, "Fishy" Mental Health Excuses, and Steph’s Tech Controversy
Charles Barkley felt that LeBron James would not be with the Lakers beyond this season, and instead would be best to move to the Cleveland Cavaliers, after the franchise opened the door for their greatest-ever player to return.
The superstar was in tears after his hometown team gave him a tribute video. While trying to prop up Donovan Mitchell, Jaylon Tyson drew the ire of James’ fans after he claimed Cleveland was his teammate’s city.
James finally spoke up about the ICE shootings in Minneapolis after he shared Bruce Springsteen’s song targeted at immigration officials and the Donald Trump administration for their handling of the situation.
Stephen Curry suffered a knee injury and is likely out for a few games. But it was the Warriors’ star’s investment in tech companies founded by former Israeli intelligence officers that caught the public’s attention.
Charles Barkley slammed Paul George for using ‘mental health’ excuse for using performance-enhancing drugs. The NBA has suspended the 76ers star for 25 games after he underwent tests earlier last week.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s mother fanned the flames of trade rumors to the Miami Heat. In the midst of this, the Bucks star tried to make light of the situation with a shoutout to a $22 billion company.
Kevin Durant joined hands with a lotion company, and Kendall Jenner joined Fanatics for a Super Bowl 60 collaboration. The latter’s work with Fanatics also involved a back-and-forth tease with former flame Devin Booker.
📺️ NBC’s Sunday Debut, the "Pritchard" Viral Moment, and Philly’s 21K Sellout
NBC premiered the NBA’s Sunday Night Basketball with Caitlin Clark as their ‘special contributor.’ She praised Luka Doncic’s game and also received some praise from Hall of Famer Reggie Miller. The latter then compared Clark to Celtics star Payton Pritchard.
The Fever guard’s smile vanished when he said this, and she could not bring it back even when she wanted to. The 24-year-old later trolled herself for looking awfully short standing beside 6’ 7” Miller and Carmelo Anthony, and promised to bring stilts for their March 29th episode.
Without Clark and Angel Reese this year in Unrivaled, the league proved it was still doing very well for itself when they recorded 21,490 fans in Philadelphia. Marina Mabrey wowed the crowd, featuring many celebrities with an electric 47-point performance.
The WNBA’s CBA negotiations took place on Feb 1st , and Clark hinted that the players and the league are on course to get a historic deal signed soon. However, a political commentator claimed that women’s sports are not as interesting and that this was an entitled move by the players.
Angel Reese, on the other hand, has been busy spending time with her boyfriend, Orlando Magic star Wendell Carter Jr. The latter confirmed that he has the benefit of not paying his in-house stylist for the outlandish fits he sports before games.
🏈 Belichick Snub, Shedeur’s Controversial Pro Bowl, and the Giants-Epstein
The Pro Football Hall of Fame became the subject of a lot of backlash after 11 of its voters did not deem Bill Belichick fit to be a first-ballot entry. The likes of LeBron James, Patrick Mahomes, other players, coaches, and President Donald Trump were baffled.
Tom Brady questioned that if his former head coach was not a first-ballot Hall of Famer, then who was? ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith wanted a boycott after it was revealed that former Colts’ GM, Bill Polian, had instigated voters to give Belichick some karma over ‘spygate.’
Fans were also left shocked when Shedeur Sanders was named to his first Pro Bowl, despite him being one of the lowest-rated AFC QBs. His father, Deion Sanders, defended the selection, but it was evident to many that the NFL wanted to dip into the Browns QBs' fame.
After the Browns hired Todd Monken as their next head coach, Emmanuel Acho bizarrely suggested that Shedeur Sanders should not listen to Monken, as the latter has no accomplishments to talk about.
Controversy continued in the league when it was revealed that Jeffrey Epstein had scouted women for New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch. The 76-year-old then defended his actions by stating that the two only discussed adult women, and he never went to Epstein’s island.
Josh Allen revealed that he had been playing with a broken bone in his right foot since their Week 16 clash. When he appeared during new head coach Joe Brady’s press conference, he had completed surgery.
