🏈 CROSBY TRADE CHAOS
Bam’s 83-Point "Unethical" Record, Luka’s Custody War, and the SGA Whistle
The biggest news of this week was after Bam Adebayo overtook Kobe Bryant to notch the second-highest single-game individual score, as no one expected the Miami Heat center of all people to score 83 points.
The league’s top stars praised the Paris Olympics gold medallist. However, a section of the media and fans labeled this performance as ‘unethical,’ citing his 36 free throws, most of which came in the last few minutes of the game, as something Bryant did not do.
In fact, the late Lakers superstar’s fans have been the loudest critics, after which, former First Take analyst Max Kellerman stated that he felt Bryant’s fans are the ones behind Adebayo’s criticism, much like how they tried to undermine Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game.
LeBron James was also one of those who praised Adebayo after overtaking his Miami Heat franchise record. At the same time, the Lakers star received some ‘hate’ after his teammates won three straight games without him.
Fans and analysts felt the Lakers played with more freedom. James came back and produced a performance that tilted the narrative in a snap. Many lauded him for taking a back seat and allowing his teammates to perform at their best.
Luka Doncic has been on a tear throughout these five straight wins, with his overtime game-winning score over close friend Nikola Jokic’s Nuggets, the highlight of the week. He managed to do all of this despite being in a child custody battle with ex-fiancée, Anamaria Goltes.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander overtook Wilt Chamberlain’s streak of 20-point games. On the other hand, Jaylen Brown and a bunch of opponents have lambasted the NBA for allowing the Thunder star to get away with his foul-baiting.
The "Big Three" Takeover, A’ja’s New Challenge, and NYC Standoff
A’ja Wilson had a bittersweet moment after her boyfriend, Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo, scored 83 points in a game. She mentioned that she had lost her career-high bragging rights, after which Candace Parker challenged the Aces star to score 84 this season.
As humongous as that feat is, anyone would agree that scoring in double-digits is very hard, let alone if one has not played competitive basketball in the past eight months. That is why fans were excited to watch Caitlin Clark score 17 during her senior debut for Team USA.
She also added 12 assists to be the player of the game. Clark could not follow it up with a decent effort in game 2 against the Puerto Ricans, but has since returned to form, and now leads the US National Team in points, assists, and efficiency.
Her fellow debutant and close friend Paige Bueckers has also had high-scoring games. So did Angel Reese, who had a double-double to show for in Game 2. The Chicago Sky forward leads the team in rebounds.
Their collective performances have forced rival fans to collaborate and cheer for them, as it has become evident that the trio has outperformed their Paris Olympics gold medalist teammates.
After their last game against Spain in a couple of days, the squad will head back home, hoping that the WNBA CBA is signed by then. Union representatives and the league’s top brass have been negotiating in New York for the past six days and have yet to come to a conclusion.

Crosby Trade Collapse, Dak’s Bahamas Breakup, and the Chiefs’ SB MVP
The NFL offseason kicked off with a blockbuster trade between the Baltimore Ravens and the Las Vegas Raiders for star pass rusher Maxx Crosby. However, a day later, they canceled the trade after failing his physical.
On one hand, questions arose about the extent of the sack artist’s injury, while on the other hand, many felt the Ravens switched their decision as they got cold feet. Twelve hours later, they signed Trey Hendrickson to a four-year contract.
This placed the Raiders in a spot, as between the time Crosby was with the Ravens for his physical, they handed $280+ million in contracts, a couple of which were for his replacements. Now, they are back to search for a trade partner, but have agreed to keep him if no one wants him.
The attention turned towards the Cowboys after both Crosby and Hendrickson were linked to them. But Jerry Jones shut down those rumors after reiterating that they have moved on after trading for Rashan Gary.
Even though the billionaire’s attention is solely on improving the Cowboys’ defense, his franchise could not escape being in the headlines after Dak Prescott and fiancée Sarah Jane Ramos called off their wedding and engagement over the QB's infidelity issues.
Free agents Kyler Murray and Tua Tagovailoa signed with the Minnesota Vikings and the Atlanta Falcons on veteran minimum deals. Longtime Buccaneer Mike Evans left the franchise to sign with the 49ers.
Patrick Mahomes could not contain his joy after his Chiefs signed Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker and brought back Travis Kelce for his 14th season. The latter pointed out that watching Taylor Swift continue to challenge herself pushed him to return.
