Darnold’s Super Bowl Glory, Bad Bunny’s Viral Halftime, and Fourth-Quarter Collapse
Despite constant criticism about Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show, Roger Goodell reminded reporters that great artists have always used their platform for political means. Turning Point USA tried to counter it with a show of its own.
After facing troubles streaming it on X, the organization still managed to draw approximately 6 million viewers on YouTube. However, it was still nowhere near the numbers garnered by the NFL, and the overall positive reaction to the Puerto Rican’s performance.
Despite the attempts of Jake Paul to boycott it, the show was a hit amongst fans, players, and the media. However, President Donald Trump still labeled it as the ‘worst Super Bowl halftime show ever.’
The NFL might be patting itself on its back for the controversy this halftime show created. The attention to that was much better than the game at hand, with the Patriots struggling to score a point for the first three quarters.
Then, in the fourth, after the Seahawks extended their lead, Drake Maye got a score on the board. But it was not enough, as their opponents forced two interceptions out of the QB, and used it to cement their second-ever Super Bowl win.
Maye choked as he paid tribute to his head coach, Mike Vrabel, and gave kudos to their opponents for playing better than them. It seems Tom Brady knew this would be the result all along, which is why he did not select his Patriots despite facing extreme backlash.
Running back Kenneth Walker III won MVP for the first time since Terrell Davis did back in 1998, and Sam Darnold was hailed as having the best redemption story after becoming the first QB from his heralded draft class to lift the Vince Lombardi trophy.
LeBron’s All-Star Slump, Harden’s Cavs Debut, and the Porzingis Gamble
LeBron James earned his 22nd straight All-Star call-up, but as a reserve. The selection drew backlash, as many felt Kawhi Leonard and Dillon Brooks deserved a chance. Commissioner Adam Silver then added the Clippers star, as rumors of his $48 million underhanded deals went viral.
Leonard will now be the lone superstar on the Clippers after the franchise kicked off the trade deadline frenzy by shipping James Harden to the Cavaliers. Kendrick Perkins then claimed that the guard and Donovan Mitchell are now recruiting LeBron James to join them next offseason.
Harden’s former GM, Daryl Morey, threw shade at him and Anthony Davis’ trade to the Washington Wizards, suggesting that they were not ‘needle movers’ to him. On the other hand, his ‘sold high’ comments after trading Jared McCain left the young guard heartbroken.

The Sixers will be without star Paul George after the NBA suspended him for 25 games for drug violations. Charles Barkley serenaded the forward for giving a mental health excuse for not knowing if he was ingesting illegal PEDs.
Draymond Green was seemingly resigned to leaving the Warriors after 14 years, as he was rumored to be a part of a trade package for Giannis Antetokounmpo. Eventually, nothing materialized, and the team traded for Kristaps Porzingis.
ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith serenaded President Donald Trump for proving he was a racist after posting a video showcasing former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, as apes, and then using his administration to defend the move before eventually taking it down.
Pritchard Peace Treaty, Barcelona’s Open Invitation, and the Rickea Jackson Tragedy
After Reggie Miller forced Caitlin Clark to lose her smile when he compared her to Payton Pritchard, it seems she is starting to warm up to the idea after she took note of his buzzer-beating heroics. Candace Parker joined to suggest to Miller a different set of comparisons for Clark.
It seems the Fever superstar has been taking note of everything, as she labeled her close friend, Tyrese Haliburton’s Pacers as 2027 NBA champions after they landed Ivica Zubac at the trade deadline.
Her support for other sports has been such that she has been invited by women’s soccer great Alexia Putellas to join FC Barcelona, in case the point guard decides to leave the WNBA and return to the sport she also excelled at.
Her excellence in almost everything has been one of the primary reasons Caitlin Clark has become so famous. Liberty owner Joe Tsai admitted that the 24-year-old’s popularity brought a fourfold increase in revenue for the WNBA.
Excellence in other areas has also become Angel Reese’s strong point. Her confidence is high enough that she encouraged boyfriend Wendell Carter Jr. to flex her having multiple jobs outside of basketball.
Sparks forward Rickea Jackson’s life outside of basketball took a hit when her boyfriend, NFL star James Pearce Jr., was arrested for domestic assault. A judge issued a no-contact order after the Falcons' rookie flew from San Francisco to Miami to confront the Unrivaled star.
Political Firestorms, a Heartbreaking Crash, and America’s First Gold
Olympian Hunter Hess sparked a massive political firestorm during the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Milan. The 27-year-old freestyle skier admitted to having "mixed emotions" about representing the U.S. due to the recent ICE shootings of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti.
Hess’s comments that he "did not represent everything" happening in the country drew immediate outrage on social media. President Donald Trump was quick to fire back on Truth Social, blasting the athlete as a "real loser" and stating that someone with those views shouldn't have tried out for the team.
The tension on the ground shifted to a somber scene on the slopes when legend Lindsey Vonn crashed just 13 seconds into her downhill run. Despite her quest for gold, the 4-time medalist clipped a gate and was left screaming in agony after a brutal fall on the Tofane course.
Vonn remained on the course for fifteen minutes before being shifted onto a stretcher and airlifted to a nearby hospital. Her sister, Karin Kildow, admitted the sight of the stretcher was "the last thing we wanted to see," while stars like Mikaela Shiffrin and Scott Hamilton wished her a speedy recovery.
Amidst the alarm, Breezy Johnson provided a golden lining by capturing Team USA's first medal of the Games. The Wyoming native finished the course in 1:36.10, securing a victory that put the United States on the board in spectacular fashion.
Johnson managed to hold off Germany’s Emma Aicher by a mere four-hundredths of a second to claim the top spot. Meanwhile, Italian veteran Sofia Goggia added another chapter to her storied career by taking home the bronze, finishing just over half a second behind the American.
